The art, the tone and the message here is great. The movement mechanics feel good and the vines growing and using tiled sprites works very well. Bezos is scary and the warehouse also fits well, the vibes are certainly well architected. However, the fact that I can't die or deal damage to Bezos does undermine the rest of the game. Bezos should be able to move to avoid attacks and the rockets should be able to explode and damage you, enough damage should kill you. If you also needed to attack Bezos as well as consume the orphans before he does the multitasking would make the game loop more varied and feel less slow. Over all very strong idea and good art and tone, it's clear you both just ran out of time regarding execution of game logic.
I think that the idea here is really strong, and messed up. This works for me. I also think that the overall gameplay loop to me makes sense, the movement for me was kind of jarring since I'm not used to clicking to move around but once I figured it out it was no problem. I'm curious why a simple WASD was not the direction taken.
I also think that the visual feedback worked well, I liked that the plant was always kind of fidgeting and that the machine besos was in was moving along and seemed actually menacing. the grabbing mechanics for the plant as it throws out it's vines are super cool.
However, I think for the overall gameplay, it felt pretty slow. I caught all the orphans as they came but it just made me feel bad about doing that to them, and I wish there was a way to defeat besos, I felt tempted to try and walk all over him, but the game didn't let me have an interaction. my suggestion here would be to have some sort of indication of progress, maybe a meter or something so there's an obvious win condition. LET ME LIVE THE AMERICAN DREAM AND KILL THAT MF.
I like the aesthetic of the game, and I really like the main mechanic, it is something unique that I have not seen before. I like that the main mechanic is both the attack and movement, I find that fun. My main problem is I have no idea if I'm winning or losing, and wasn't sure if there even was a win condition? If there was something indicating how well I'm doing, or how close to the end I am, I feel like that would improve the game a lot. Overall though pretty cool, and very creative.
